Facial revitalisation acupuncture

Facial revitalisation acupuncture is a natural and effective way for people of all ages to take care of their appearance and health.

Loved by celebrities such as Sadie Frost and Susan Hampshire, as well as beauty journalists (including The Times’ reporter Sarah Vine), it is a safe beauty treatment and a more natural alternative to Botox or fillers.

The focus of Facial revitilisation acupuncture is to improve appearance, however to look good on the outside it is important to be healthy and balanced on the inside. As with Five Element acupuncture, points are chosen on the body as well as the face to support the functioning of internal organs and enhance overall health.

What can I expect?
The initial consultation and treatment lasts 1.5 hours and includes a discussion of your overall health. This enables the practitioner to decide on the best treatment for you and also to recommend lifestyle changes to support treatment. Subsequent treatments last 1 hour. During treatment hair-fine needles are placed in points on the body and face to address individual needs. The needles used are sterile, single use and of the highest quality. The treatment ends with a relaxing jade-roller facial massage and foot massage.

Some people are understandably a little nervous about the idea of the needles.  However, as the needles are so fine the treatment is practically painless and people often report it a very relaxing and rejuvenating experience.

Are there any risks?
Facial acupuncture is a safe treatment. On occasions, there is a minor risk of local bruising, which should disappear within a few days.  This treatment is not appropriate for those who are pregnant, or who suffer from frequent migraines or high blood pressure. In those cases, we would recommend Traditional Five Element acupuncture.

Number of sessions
Single treatments are beneficial, however a course of 6-12 treatments is usually required to see more substantial and longer lasting change.  Following the initial course of treatment, maintenance treatments will help to prolong the results for future years.

In 1996 the International Journal of Clinical Acupuncture reported that in a clinical trial 90% of 300 cases treated with Facial Acupuncture, showed marked improvements after one course of treatment.
